Our Story
Once we began to understand how waste is being managed today we kept asking ourselves the same question. “Why are we still treating solid waste like we’ve been doing the past fifty years?”
We were led into the alternative energy world by a client facing several solid waste management challenges. It soon became evident that there were no viable solutions for them to use their waste as an alternative to fossil fuels. So began our journey for a solution.
Waste to Energy
That journey has lead our team down a remarkable path, opening our eyes to several issues that will have a major impact on the lives of our children and grandchildren if not curtailed. Our initial thoughts were to find a way to process waste products and become a waste to energy company.
We travelled the country attending renewable fuel conferences paying special attention to what the speakers were not saying, rather then what they were saying. It soon became evident that water was the main culprit to the readily available feedstocks.
Solid Waste Management
An estimated 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) is generated annually, and this value is expected to grow to 3.4 billion tons by 2050. Managing this waste leads to the emission of 1.6 billion metric tons of CO2e (MTCO2e) annually, and this value is expected to rise to 2.6 billion MTCO2e by 2050 if no improvements are made in the waste management sector (Kaza et al. 2018).
